Who doesn't love a sporting game of cards?

AWWWW YEAAHH!!! POKEMON CARDS....

What better way to get kids to begin gambling then pokemon.
First introduced in Japan in 1996, pokemon cards were an instant success because of the television show. The cards, as many of you would already know, increased in value from the different pokemon depending on how rare each of them were; the actual game was not played an awful lot when i was a young lad, but the trading was serious enough to have banned it in many primary schools (and i am guessing some kids at high school and other educational facilities). From the copious amounts of cards which kids possessed to the behind the back trading schemes that were being hatched, pokemon cards in my mind are the best consumer product ever created. Highly sort after (some cards fetching prices of up to $20,000) and highly addictive to kids of all ages when the craze was at its peak, the cards initially got children to begin gambling and stealing to achieve the massive collections.
The most expensive one that i owned was a charizard, worth $125, but i never stopped trying to achieve the entire collection when i had owned them.

Peace out, Jared Dettmann

  2. I have the biggest soft spot ever for pokemon. If i was to get a tattoo it would be of a giant venusaur on my back in the style of the yakuza tattoos LOL

Definitely one of the best consumer franchises created.
