Nintendo 64

In my opinion the best ever consumer product is the Nintendo 64 game console. The now primitive machine has been bought by 32.9 million people and revolutionised gameplay forever. The successor of the Super Nintendo, the '64 was a smaller and more attractive looking console. A vivid black with some grey trimming and the choice of multiple coloured, unique controllers.

15 years on from it's release, the '64 is still regarded as the best console ever to be created previous to wireless controllers and internet connections. Some iconic and timeless games that were available on the Nintendo 64 included Super Mario 64, GoldenEye 007, Zelda and Pokemon Snap. The games were cartridges which would cause the user all sorts of trouble leading to the famous blowing into the back-side where all the electronics were.

My Nintendo 64 is still plugged into my TV and I occasionally rip it out and play some GoldenEye. The Nintendo 64 and the Pokemon franchise has shaped the lives of some many '90s kids and allowed other companies to take inspiration from their direction and add to the entertainment that we crave and enjoy so much.

  2. And some of us have a misspent youth playing GoldenEye that you would think we were too old to have played...

  3. GoldenEye playoff next week perhaps??
In all seriousness though, the Nintendo 64 was what made gaming mainstream. A great product.
Love blowing on the cartridges to make them 'work'. I wonder if that actually DID anything...
