To keep you updated, i managed to get an appointment last sunday at apple.
Because my mac is 4 years old they had to order in a new battery for me. I'm expecting a call today or tomorrow at the latest (they said tomorrow but they might have forgotten about the public holiday) and when it arrives i'll be able to get it swapped over on the spot. So hopefully it is today. Anyway, I'll do my best to bring in the assignment on Friday morning on a usb along with the receipts, if thats ok with you.
