Xbox 360

Yes, I'm a little late here, so I'll keep this post short and sweet.

The Xbox 360 has undoubtedly had a massive impact on the gaming industry.
Yes, one could go on about the products technical properties, (Graphics, processing power etc.), but what makes the box special is it's ability to simultaneously connect millions of people all over the world, allowing them to play games, watch DVDs, listen to music, blog, twitter, watch foxtel, make video calls... the list goes on. The 360 was more than just a gaming console. Also, the rate in which the community is expanding is somewhat scary as new features are continuously added to the system. The gaming industry itself has even begun to rival the movie industry in terms of advertising. I'm sure many of you will have noticed the increase in game related ads on TV in recent years.
The 360 has opened up a whole new door in terms of marketing.

The Xbox itself, while bulky, isn't bad to look at. Clearly a lot of thought was put into the design of the console after the horrible brick which was the first Xbox. The controller itself is much more ergonomic and easily fits into the users hand.  Of course the 360 isn't the BEST consumer product in the world. I mean it still has some serious flaws, such as overheating issues and power consumption. But overall, the sheer impact it has had on consumers over the years has made it one of the best consumer products ever.

  1. While I think the Xbox itself is at the peak of the gaming industry I'm not sure I completely agree that this is the best product of all time, simply beacuse of the effect it has on how kids spend their leisure time. Yes, it has amazing graphics and can link people all over the world but there have been so many debates on the impact it has on people: desensitization to violence, inactiveness and health issues.

But all in all the features and the technology that the Xbox provide, probably outweigh most of those concerns. And I agree that the controller is pretty comfortable as far has hand-held products go.
