Marshall Digital Radio

I've chosen this radio(Pure Evoke-1S Marshall DAB+ Radio) because I believe the design  has the iconic style of traditional and famous Marshall products and is able to evoke emotions in consumers that is rarely seen in recent radio design.

The concept behind this design was simple, a Digital Radio in a scaled down form of the classic Marshall Amp design, a design icon synonymous with high sound quality and forever associated with music industry professionals. While designs that aim to balance both modern and retro elements can often come across as gimmicky novelty items, I feel the Marshall Radio distinguishes itself with it's attention to detail. The black vinyl wrap, brass effect front and authentic Marshall Badge provides the aesthetic of the Marshall Amp, a defining image in popular music. The fact that wear and tear that all products eventually endure would in this case add to the authenticity.

One of the strong points of this particular design is that the controls do not detract from the entire design, it's simple and classy and seems like it would be easy to use. There's no dependence on a touch screen, which is a refreshing change

  1. Yeah, I think it's pretty neat, but the design, and the identity are not as pure as they could be.

The extra bezel (that has the secondary branding) is a distraction from what could have been a really powerful statement.
