Aqualim

The Aqualim is a very simple, yet smart measuring device that will help reduce water usage, and assist in reducing water bills. The Australian designer, Trevor Murphy created a device that would stop the water flow of the shower after a certain amount of water has been used. Due to the large range of shower head styles available, and water pressure varying between each person, placing a recommendation of a 3 minute shower is not accurate. The Aqualim rather sets the water limit at 30 litres, when the limit is reached the water flow slows to represent the usage. In this instance most people would turn the shower off and finish, but if water is still needed the shower can be turned off to reset the Aqualim, and then turned straight back on.

The device fits seamlessly onto the shower head, and can be installed by the home owner. The Aqualim will save the average family about $100 a year on their water and energy bills.

Without any controls, or on/off functions it does not add any time or delay the time it takes to get into the shower.  So no negative effects will be felt, apart from if you are washing your hair when the water flow is reduced.

I think this is a smart device that takes the guesswork out of how much water is used whilst showering. Weather your shower head is a water saver style or big and pours out water is your choice, it will just effect showering time. With no interaction and interpreting figures needed, the Aqualim is a simple yet very effective device.
