Cold engine, low redline

I thought this was a really neat idea. I know too many people who simply start their cars on a cold winter's morning and put their foot to the floor. Yes you my think you're cool, but think of your engine and the potential damage you are doing.

BMW has the solution. Their neat electronic engine management system incorporates cold engine temperature into their start-up sequence. It simply limits how hard you can rev the engine whilst it is still cold. As it heat's up, the orange squares that line the diamater of the tacho progressively turn off and the engine management system allows the driver to give it the juice. A simple yet effective measuring solution to what otherwise could be a very expensive trip to mechanic :)
