Removable controls on the Vita Audio R4i

Not only does this radio look amazing and (supposedly) sound amazing, it also does everything you could ever want in an audio system (except internet radio). It has an ipod dock, usb inputs, it plays cd's, has gold plated phono outputs, headphone sockets, auxiliary inputs (plural), digital radio and am/fm radio!! And all for the low low price of $1300!
It does have one feature which really takes the cake however, the inset removable remote control, which I think they somehow stole from one of my radio concepts, travelled back in time and whacked it on to this radio. What I really like about this system is that at first it doesn't look like a remote but then you pop it out and... it's a remote! It has quite a weighty look to it and seems to be a perfect fit for the palm of your hand allowing it to be controlled by the thumb alone. I think the chrome underside is also a really nice detail and really signifies quality. Check it out in action - http://www.vitaaudio.com/products/r4i-intro-video (be prepared to once again hear about the excessive amount of features).

  1. The removable remote is a clever feature. I'm assuming that it also works as the control buttons when attatched to the radio? I love the idea of a feature doubling in it's function, especially with DAB radios because of the countless amount of functions on offer. I think it really targets the increasing society desire for efficiency. The consideration for both function and usability is really well thought out.
