it's all about contrast!

This is not necessarily a radio design in itself, however i have seen designs that closely focus on a similar thought. The main detailing i love about these speakers is the materials and the contrast between the main ones. i believe that a clever and harmonious contrast in materials as well as color can give a feeling of quality and adds intrigue from an aesthetic aspect.
these speakers were designed by Joey Roth and are made from ceramic, cork and wood, as well as the electronics. it gives a both industrial and organic feel at the same time, which i believe to create a sort of "earthy" and solid vibe whilst maintaining stability and strength. there is obvious beauty in this design and i hope to closley play with subtle differences between contrasts in materials with my radio design.

  1. I agree about the interest a mix of materials creates in a design and the "feel" each of the materials adds to the product. However, there are several bad designs which seem to become over complicated when too many materials are incorporated and I think the trick for designers is to find that balance.
