Convex Radio

Here is my finished radio model.
Yes it is balsa wood on the front curved face of the radio. I had to use a more rigid material than foam so that this curved form would be kept.
The two pins on each side of the radio should be ignored as they only demonstrate the two positions of the radio cover that slides and are not part of the design.

Enjoy,

Matt Harding

  1. Ah i love the use of balsa wood to convey a wooden material, good idea! Overall form looks good. Just a thought, since you've made indents to define the display and buttons, maybe sand off the excess pen marks with soft sandpaper to remove any roughly drawn construction lines that contrasts with the foam. If you find the display is not defined enough after removing the pen, maybe subtly attatch clear plastic to illustrate the display screen :).

  2. Thanks Cynthia!
I am going to fix up the pen lines as you pointed out.
I might try attaching some clear plastic to the screen section some how.

I hope the wood is not too miss leading, as it is supposed to represent speaker mesh material. I chose the wood because it was the easiest option and would hold the curved ends relatively well. It is a form study after all.

    Thanks again for the advice
