I think the most important thing about this kind of control is the weighting of the slider. The best ones generally have a good amount of resistance to pushing them, while maintaining really smooth operation. The weight of the slider not only makes the product feel more sturdy, but also makes it feel less like you could accidentally change the volume with a light knock.
I also think its important that they fit nicely with your fingers, so that you can manipulate the controls with just one finger rather than having to grab the whole control.

I really like the idea of the volume faders and the major reason is because they seem more professional then a regular volume knob. I think that when using them you feel like you’re in the studio fine-tuning the master volume of the original recording instead of just adjusting it at a later stage.
