VU Meters

Was never entirely sure what they were meant for, yet i still liked the look of them.
The VU meter is to indicate the strength of volume/loudness of material coming through, originally used for measuring the strength telephone lines for radio programs.
The effect of the VU meter doesn't really have as much application as it was initially used for, but i do take pride and enjoyment in looking at dials moving on a particular stationary object.
The VU meter tends to be becoming more and more obsolete, i still prefer it to be on radios; either digital or analogue.

  1. I'm also a big fan of the VU meters. My family had a chunky old radio with them on the front and I thought they were the best element of the design. They also seem to have a timeless class, unlike digital sound meters on some displays, that to me have always looked like they really were useless.
