White Fruit Radio loves touching

When most of the radios out there are made out of plastic or metal, designer Swann Bourotte has successfully brought nature and technology together with the White Fruit Radio. It is not just a block of wood.

This radio is made of sycamore for its superior acoustic properties. It has an LED substrate that lies beneath the thin surface for navigation. It reveals itself only when it is required, so that it reduces the amount of light produced. What is amazing about it is that there are no buttons or knobs. The ridges on top of the radio is what enables users to change volume and select stations. Simply by rubbing/stroking your finger across the ridges, you will see the LEDs light up and volume or channels can be changed within a swipe.

What makes this design so special is it has brought the way we control radio to a new level. With no buttons, no knobs and no touch screens, there's no hassle of finding or pressing the wrong button. It is easy to control and convenient. It is small and sleek. This radio gives great sound quality as it is made from high quality wood that is normally used for orchestral string instruments.

Even though the White Fruit Radio might not be the best looking radio, it is the unique and easy interaction that impresses me. For those who have sensitive touch on their fingers, this radio could be the option where you can find great pleasure and experience.

  1. Nice find Hannie, yanko seem to have some great designers. That simple wooden curve really appeals to me, i actually think it's one of the better looking radios out there.
    Is this getting produced already?

  2. i actually think this radio looks awesome. the only problem would be to mistake it for just a nicely curved piece of wood, instead of an electronic device.

  3. I'd rather a nice curved piece of wood in my house than a vase or a bunch of flowers
