Revival DAB

The simple visual appearance of this radio is why I love it so much. While it appears as if the designer has completely ripped off the classic styling of 50's Fender guitar amps, I still don't have an issue with that. This association is one of the reasons why it works so well. Those guitar amps had such a aggressive visual appearance that I think is perfectly suited to a modern radio. As digital radios are gaining popularity, they need a strong visual identity to distinguish themselves from radios of the last 10 or so years. Taking styling cues from the past could be the way forward.

The controls are hidden on top of the radio so that from the front the speaker dominates our eye. This ensures the most important aspect of the radio, the sound/speaker is the first thing we see.
There is also nothing too complex going on that may discourage the user from wanting to use it. Simple push buttons and rubber tuners perfectly compliment the overall design.

  2. Agreed, I love the style of this radio. Especially the visual dominance of the speaker and it grilles, it's perfect and put a real emphasis on the way music should be played (Amp- like).
    Good find!
