This radio is actually a usb am-fm radio tuner which means that it requires a computer for operation. Using the software that comes with the radio you can also easily record music at any time that you assign.
The reason I chose this radio as one of the best designs is because of its exterior form. It is able to achieve great simplicity due to the fact you run it through a pc and the curves, along with the hollowed out centre creates a really minimalistic look. The other thing I found interesting about the design is that it creates much clearer sound due to a built-in loop antenna so its not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional.
The radio mate does measure 255mm x 225mm x 102mm and weighs around 350 g. Considering the size and bold design it definitely isn't trying to blend into the background.

I'm a massive fan of minimalism and I can definitely see how thats made this piece so unique. The organic shape can even pull off as an artwork you could display in your home. The fact that it can cover both function and form is the reason why we have industrial designers. The curved antenna placed in the loop is also something outside the box.
