The Q2 portable internet radio was developed by Cambridge Consultants alongside client Armour Group and is controlled by tilting and tipping the object.
Featuring no screen and only a single on/off switch the user can select one of four chosen pre-selected stations by turning the Q2 Cube onto one of its four "live" faces.
The fifth face controls the volume and speaker - tilting it backwards turns down the volume and tilting in forwards turns it up.
It measures 8cm and comes with built in Wi-Fi and a USB port for connection to the computer and internet.
I think this is a brilliant design that has really stripped the radio down to its most basic functions and created a form to suit.
However, I do have one small issue with the design - while the stamped metal material on the front surface suggests that this is a sound making device I still think first time users would be stumped to figure out its function.
Despite this, I think that the Q2 Cube is one of the best radios on the market today.
Also, found a website that some of you might be interested in. They might not be the most functional designs but definitely food for thought:
