New Age Fun with a Vintage Feel

The Schwinn Bicycle company was founded in Chicago by German-born mechanical engineer Ignaz Schwinn in 1895.
Since then it has become one of the most dominant manufacturers of American bicycles.

Currently, the Schwinn Jenny as pictured, is my favourite piece of design, a women's comfort bike, it is the most comfortable ride I have experienced second only to the cruiser.
However unlike its counterpart, "Jenny" is dramatically lighter in weight, enabling its rider to reach high speeds if the occasion calls for it.
It also utilises a seven speed gear system, separating itself from many of the "fixie-bikes" available on the current market.

Due to the effective design of the seat relative to the height and orientation of the handlebars, one can comfortably ride in an upright position rather than being hunched over
as is inconveniently necessary when riding other styles.
Furthermore, Jenny boasts a chain guard meaning that riding in loose pants is no longer a hazard and getting oil on your leg is no longer a possibility. Other features include a rack behind the seat and a space for a basket bracket to be attached to the handlebars making it an easy ride to various destinations such as the supermarket and university.

Despite all of these glorious features, it is the aesthetic of "Jenny" and her sister "Nancy" that I admire the most. Both are are designed to mimic the style of Schwinn's 1950s women's bicycles which existed in America and Australia. Personally I am a major fan of vintage aesthetic, I find it quite romantic, and relish the concept of a bygone era.

Thus making the Schwinn "Jenny" or even "Nancy" the perfect bicycle for me; It has all the aesthetics of a retro bike, minus rust from age and scratches from previous owners, and perhaps more advantageous is the fact that they are manufactured using the latest in gear and brake technology.
